We use avatar’s instead of real pictures of us because it helps to protect our identity online. The only time you should use real pictures of yourself is when you are making a video that has several people in it or taking a group photo and putting it on your blog. But make sure you have you friends’ permission to use photos of them online! You also don’t wanted to tag people in pictures that you put on your blog. If you do then other people that you don’t know will know their names and what they look like. I don’t think you wanted that to happen to you! Once you upload a picture to any site anyone can have access to it around the world and they can copy it and make more copies of it!!

My class is learning about the New Zealand’s indigenous people and their language. Mrs.Braidwood gave us this piece of paper that had funny words on it, but then she explained it was Maori mihi language. It looked really hard, but then she broke the words up for us on the piece of paper!

Over the Spring Break I found this book called “Artistic Fitness“. As I was looking through it I came across a pixie drawing and it was so beautiful. I thought I would try to draw it. It took me a while to finish but I’m so glad I never gave up. When I was drawing I had to pay the most attention to the shading and I had to find the angles of the pixie. A few days after I finished my drawing I did a little bit of research on pixies. I found out that pixies are a type of fairy and I also found four different websites. One of them is “Fairies, Elf’s, Pixies“, the second one is “The Pixie Glade“, the third one is “Pixie-Wikipedia” and the last one is “Pixies Tales“. I also learned from one of the websites that one of their favourite things to do is play in water. There are also lots of ways to spell pixie like pigsies, pickies, and pexies.
On January 4th it was National Trivia Day in the U.S.A. Even though we don’t live there, my class is going to be asking some trivia to celebrate it, so I’m going to ask you 5 questions about Canada. The idea began on Bringing Us Together that my class was in charge of for two weeks.
Here are my 5 trivia questions for you.
How many points are on a Maple Leaf?
What are the two national languages in Canada?
What are Canadians known for saying
How many countries border Canada?
What was the name of the system of safe passages and safe houses that allowed American slaves to escape to freedom in Canada?

All year my class as been learning about Internet safety and how to use the Internet right. The Internet is fun, but you can get caught in some unsafe or embarrassing situations if you aren’t careful. You can do something to protect your online identity though and become Internet savvy!
To begin with do not give people online your name or information about where you live. It’s also a good idea to not give people personal information about your life such as your school, your schedule or yourphone number. This includes where you do your sports or activities, what city or town you live in, or what mall or stores you shop at. Don’t take chances meeting people you don’t know either because it can be dangerous and you don’t know if the person you’re meeting is good or bad.
Helping other people know it is not safe to share any personal information online could help them avoid risky situations as well. The Internet can offer you lots of good things like education, and history about the olden days. What I also learned not to put my last name or my address up on the Internet.
Is there anything else that you can do to protect your identity online?

My friend Yana started this whole food nickname thing. When she started calling me Toast I started to liked that name. One day in Math class my friends and I were talking about my nickname, so we made nicknames up for them too. Hannan’s is Jelly and Shania’s is Peanut and then we all went around the school yelling out our nicknames. Then we noticed that everyone was staring at us, but we didn’t care. We were just having fun and being ourselves! So about one week later more people started to get involved and more food nicknames were made. Now there is a lot to remember! (LOL) About half of the class has a nickname so far. We had lots of fun making them!
